I’ve decided to switch my major post day from Wednesday to Thursday, thus the title from Woden to Thor. They are the old English namesakes for these two most estimable weekdays. From an old Germanic god to a Norse god. Or really from Norse god Odin (the Norse pronunciation of Woden as best I can tell) to Norse god Thor. From father to son. Given the astonishing amount of superhero movies funded in the past couple years and their tendency to use titans of antiquity, I’m pretty sure most people know at least Thor. Lightning, Mjolnir, all that. Not that I am complaining about all the hero movies. Okay so I am complaining a bit. It’s probably no surprise that I love fantasy coming-of-age plot lines, superheros, rag-tag groups of misfits coming together to accomplish something incredible, all that jazz. But I do have to say some of the petty cash grabs tossed in our collective faces are disappointing. The same old things are getting rehashed over and over again without any regard for how palatable they are. Everybody knows after food is reheated a few times it needs to be thrown away. Make room for a new dish, or at least a twist on a classic. Who am I kidding; I love a good reboot as much as the next guy. And I live off leftovers. But I digress, I dipped my foot in my stream of consciousness and somehow it carried me away. Tomorrow will be a short story. And after that who can say?
